Hi there. You may be reading this blog and wondering who I am. I’m Naomi. An artist and designer, not by profession but by passion.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet where I plan on sharing my thoughts and insights on everything I’ve learnt so far on my self-taught creative journey.
I’ve always loved making things and using my hands. Like most children during childhood, I enjoyed the exploration of colour, shapes and lines and appreciated the ways in which they could be used to tell stories and evoke emotions. I didn’t know how or with which medium I wanted to continue exploring my creativity, but I knew that somehow it would be a path I could see myself following.
My pencil drawings turned into traditional paintings, my traditional paintings turned into digital paintings and my experiments in collaging turned into graphic design pieces.

However, I didn’t want it to stop there. I wanted those designs to become interactive, not just remain static. So I started designing websites and user interfaces as passion projects while actively seeking new opportunities after graduating from university. It was a way for me to dip my toes in the water and share what I could do with others in the design community.

Much of what I have learnt so far has been from the insights shared by other creatives. I think that anyone who has ever learned anything has knowledge worth sharing, which is one of the reasons why I started this blog. I know that there are many other self-taught creatives out there and I hope that even one small insight I share can be of use to someone else on their own journey.
Another reason why I decided to hit ‘publish’ this year, is because I wanted to find new ways to express myself and connect with other creatives along the way.
I don’t consider myself to be a design expert, and I fully acknowledge that creative work is subjective. But if you’re interested in following this journey of mine, connecting over art and design, and picking up on what I’ve learnt thus far, feel free to follow this blog for what’s to come.
Thank you for reading thus far and I hope you’ll check back in for future musings on art, design and illustration.
Until then,
Naomi
