Have you noticed anything different about the branding of this blog post? Or perhaps this website?
If you’ve been here anytime before the start of June 2026, then perhaps you do. If not, then it’s probably been made obvious in the title of this blog post.
Maybe you still don’t know what I’m going on about at this point. Either way, let me explain.
A few years ago when I decided that I wanted to start sharing my design work publicly, I knew that I needed to have a visual identity to represent the name I was going by: Naomi Sara Design.
I will however be the first to say that I don’t consider myself to be a logo designer. My focus at the time was on creating passion projects and teaching myself to use design software, not on branding myself. So what did I do?
I simply typed my brand name in a fancy font that I liked, applied a gradient on top, and that became my visual marker for a couple of years.

To be honest, it did the job I needed it to do at the time. I was trying to enforce the saying, “Just make it exist first. You can make it good later.” And while, there are times, that it is better to do things right the first time, sometimes taking that pressure off yourself and just doing “that thing” can really help to propel you forward. It helped me to simply go ahead and start posting my work, which was the main goal.
But sometime last year, I began to feel like it didn’t really represent me. It didn’t have the personal touch needed in order for me to claim it as my own and so came the urge for me to design a visual identifier for myself.
So I began sketching some quick ideas in my notebook.

It felt important for my name to be represented in the design, but not entirely obvious at first glance. I wanted a sense of clarity that still made you look twice.

It took a few tries to get it right. I did many revisions using my vector design software, Inkscape, and asked for feedback along the way, before making minor tweaks, until I got to the final stage.

I also made sure to research the different variations my logo package should have as I knew that I would be using them in different formats and scenarios.

The end result is actually quite simple but I think it better represents me now and who I am as a designer. Simple and elegant while figuring out the twists and turns of this journey as I go along.

I hope you like this little rebrand as much as I do because you’re going to be seeing it alongside my work moving forward.
Have you been thinking about changing something in your work or life recently? Getting started is the hardest part for sure. It took me close to a year to finally create this change.
Part of the reason for this lengthy delay was feeling too intimidated to start.
What if I wasn’t able to create the result I wanted? Or, what if I didn’t like the result of my own efforts and ideas?
At times I didn’t actually like the results. But, I realised that you can always keep going and making changes along the way until you are pleased with the results. It’s part of the process and that’s exactly what I did.
So whatever change you’re thinking of making right now, maybe it’s worth a shot if you feel like it’s the best move for you.
Give it a shot and enjoy the journey.
Until next time,
Naomi
